IMUS, Cavite, Feb. 16 – The province of Cavite, particularly Cavite City, the towns of Bacoor, Kawit, Noveleta, and this municipality expect to get uninterrupted and efficient water services from the Maynilad Water Services Inc. in the next few months.

Officials of the four towns, including Cavite City, led by Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi of this municipality, issued the statement following a recent announcement by Maynilad, the water company serving the west zone concession areas, including a large area of the province that it has put up P8.4 billion to further strengthen its water and wastewater services to its clients.

Maliksi said Maynilad president and Chief Executive Officer Ricky Vargas disclosed the company’s capital expenditure budget will be funded by a combination of corporate loans and internally generated funds.

He said Vargas stated that of the P8.4 billion budget, P2.7 billion will go to boosting Maynilad’s sewerage and sanitation drive while P1.9 billion will be used to upgrade key facilities including its pumping stations, water reservoirs and primary lines, among others.

Maliksi said Vargas also stated that over P1.6 billion will be spent to lay new pipelines in unserved areas and nearly P1.8 billion will be used for the company’s aggressive Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction program. The rest of the 2012 budget will be used for the development of water sources, buildings and warehouse facilities, natural calamity mitigation and other projects.

Vargas, he said, likewise said that when Metro Pacific and DMCI took over Maynilad in 2007, they were committed to infusing the necessary funds to make the company viable and responsive to the needs of customers.

Maynilad is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills Districts), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario and Cavite City, all of Cavite province.
