MANILA, Feb. 14 – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested eight Chinese nationals who were illegally working in two mining sites in Eastern Samar.

The BI is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

BI Commissioner Ricardo David, Jr. identified those arrested as Xue Guanghu, Enqing Xie, Lou Zheng Nan, Hong Bing Yin, Dong Chunhui, Li Shaohua, Zuang Guangyu, and Mo Jiacheng.

The eight were arrested by the intelligence operatives of the BI inside the compound of Yinshu Mining Corp. and Din Shing Mining Inc. in Barangay Caradapan, Eastern Samar on Feb. 6, 2012 while they were at work.

David said that he issued a mission order for the said operation after they received an information about the presence of the eight foreigners in the two mining sites who were allegedly working without the required working visa.

Under the law, foreign workers are required to secure an alien employment permit from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and working visa from the BI. (PNA)
