ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 9 -– The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) is introducing an on-line registration system for prospective members in a bid to bolster the agency's aggressive membership campaign.

Philhealth Vice President for Western Mindanao Romeo Alberto said the on-line registration is expected to hasten the membership process into the government health insurance program which is now mandatory.

Alberto foresees that the number of Philhealth members will increase with the introduction of the in-line registration.

“Getting into the net will surely help to entice people to join Philhealth and get under its coverage,” Alberto added.

He disclosed that they had attained 74-percent coverage in this city and in the region last year.

He expressed high hopes they can achieve a higher percentage of coverage this year with the introduction of the on-line registration.

Philhealth eyes a 100-percent coverage in the region in three years' time, he said.

Meanwhile, Alberto said it is imperative for the public to be a registered member of Philhealth to be able to enjoy the health care benefits that the government extends to all Filipinos. (PNA) DCT/LAP/TPG/utb
