Cebu trade group holds annual economic briefing on Feb. 17

CEBU CITY, Feb. 9 –- The fast changing economic and business milieu and its impact on the performance of business organizations and local government units will be tackled in this year’s Cebu 2nd Annual Economic Briefing and Investment Forum to be held at the Quest Hotel Conference Center on Feb. 17.
The economic briefing, jointly organized by Cebu Business Club and the Department of Economics of the University of San Carlos (USC) School of Business and Economics, will also discuss the potential for new investments in Cebu and what local government units can do to become more competitive.
Two known personalities in business and economics in Cebu and an expert on monetary policy from Manila will be speakers in the event.
USC economics professor Perry Fajardo, former National Economic Development Authority (Neda) economist and assistant regional director, will discuss how the economy works, how it performed last year and why and what the prospects are for the year and in the near future.
Cebu Investment Promotion Center (CIPC) managing director Joel Mari Yu, former DTI regional director and assistant secretary, will expound on the emerging investment areas in Cebu and key trends to watch in order to protect or enhance one’s competitiveness.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Economic and Financial Learning Center director Zeno Abenoja will speak on monetary policy, including the latest change in the reserve requirements of banks, and its impact on the economy and individual business through the interest rates, prices and exchange rates mechanism.
