TUGUEGARAO CITY, Feb. 2 – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is expanding its program on reforestation and livelihood assistance in its service areas in Northern Luzon.

NGCP spokeswoman lawyer Cynthia Alabanza said during a weekly "Tipon-Tipan sa PIA", the NGCP is studying the possibility of expanding its reforestation activities and providing livelihood assistance to residents where the transmission lines pass through.

According to Alabanza, the reforestation program is one project closest to her heart and presently the company is looking for additional areas to reforest.

She said there are initial mangrove reforestations in Batangas which have seen to revive and rehabilitate the mangrove forests in the area.

The company also wants to push through with the planned bamboo plantation as a reforestation project to prevent soil erosion. (PNA) DCT/FFC/SCD/ME/mba
