Cabinet secretaries to lead turn over of 6,000 school chairs made from confiscated logs in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 2 — Four cabinet secretaries of the Aquino administration will lead the formal turn over ceremonies of initial 6,000 school chairs made from confiscated logs in Agusan del Sur and some areas in Caraga Region.

The turnover ceremonies will be held Friday morning at Agusan National High School and Butuan City Central School covered courts here.

Butuan City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT) officer-in-charge Dr. Aida Abad said Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon Paje, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) Chairman Cristino Naguiat Jr. and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Emmanuel Joel Villanueva will all spearhead the turnover ceremonies.

BCSAT is a recipient of 800 school the said chairs. The funds for the manufacture of chairs came from Pagcor.

"We, at BCSAT, are happy to be recipient of school chairs because, aside from classrooms, there is also a dire need for arm chairs for our students. We thank Secretary Luistro, Pagcor, DENR, and Butuan City Government for choosing our school to be one of the lucky recipients,” Abad said.

Abad said the 800 arm chairs were already delivered at her school courtesy of the Butuan City Government.

The other schools-recipients are Agusan National High School (ANHS), Butuan City Central Elementary School, Gabriel Elementary School, G.T. Domingo Elementary School, Libertad Central Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School and Villa Kanangga Elementary School. (PNA)
