MANILA, Dec. 9 – Former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was transported on a rainy Friday afternoon to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City from the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) in Taguig City.

Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters said the coaster bearing the former President arrived with heavy security at about 4:10 p.m. at the VMMC, where she will be staying while the electoral sabotage case filed against her is being heard by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

The 64-year-old Mrs. Arroyo had been confined at the SLMC since November 15, after she and her husband, former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, were barred by immigration authorities from leaving the country for her to seek medical treatment abroad.

On November 18, Pasay RTC Branch 112 Judge Jesus Mupas issued a warrant for her arrest and two others — former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr. and former election supervisor Lintang Bedol — based on the electoral sabotage charges filed by the Commission on Elections. (PNA)
