PAF soldier killed in Batangas town

LIPA CITY, Batangas, Nov. 30 – A member of the 733rd Combat Squadron of the Philippine Airforce (PAF) was shot dead in Nasugbu, Batangas early Wednesady morning , police said.
Batangas provincial police office (PPO) director Sr. Supt. Rosauro Acio identified the fatality as Airman 2nd Class (A2C) Joemon Artikulo, of the PAF.
Artikulo was killed by a mayor’s security aide after an altercation in Nasugbu, Batangas past midnight Wednesday, he said.
Supt. Nicolas Torre of the PNP provincial information said Artikulo, AIC Van Rigell Perez and A2C Lord Ryan Reyes were in front of a burger stand along Malasugue Street in Barangay Wawa, Nasugbu when security aide Allan Ernie kicked the soldiers’ pet dog.
The soldiers, who were in civilian attire, scolded Ernie for kicking the dog, Torre said.
He said that the scolding might have irked Ernie, prompting him to shoot ts at the soldiers, hitting Artikulo, 25, on the chest and killing him instantly.
The two soldiers retaliated, hitting Ernie on his side torso. He was rushed to Madonna General Hospital in Nasugbu for treatment , Torre said.
The soldiers escaped and reported the incident to their superiors stationed in Barangay Calo, Nasugbu, he said.
Torre said Ernie was with a companion, identified only as “JR”, when the shooting occurred.
Ernie, 34, is a security aide of Trece Martirez, Cavite Mayor Melandres De Sagun. He is now recuperating from the wounds he suffered at the Madonna General Hospital.
Torre said Ernie was reportedly sent by De Sagun to provide security to a relative who has been receiving death threats. He did not elaborate. (PNA) RMA/CTB
