Drugstore owner found dead in Bingawan, Iloilo

ILOILO CITY, Nov. 25 – A businessman from the province of Iloilo was found dead with gaping wounds on the neck and side of his body early Friday morning in Barangay Agbao, Bingawan, Iloilo.

The victim was identified as Alejandro Mandilag, 50, a resident of Delgado Street, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo and proprietor of Poly Mae Pharmacy located along Arroyo Street also in Sta. Barbara town.

The slain businessman was at the back seat of his Toyota car (UGR 838) when found by the driver of a motorcycle and a group of students at about 6 a.m. Friday near the boundary of Barangays Agbao and Ngingian in Bingawan, Iloilo.

SPO3 Niel Camayudo of the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station said on Friday morning that the Mandilag family reported to the police station the victim had been missing since since Thursday evening.

Camayudo said the Mandilag family, who proceeded to the crime scene after they heard the news over the airlanes on the lifeless body that was found in Bingawan town, has positively identified the cadaver as that of the missing Alejandro.

Local resident Francisco Sumili said he heard a loud but unruly rumbling noise in the crime scene during the wee hours on Thursday evening; but he did not dare to come out of their house to investigate for fear of his life because of the prevailing darkness.

He was surprised to learn the following morning that there was a dead person in the area.

The Bingawan PNP coordinated with its counterparts from Sta. Barbara PNP station to identify the killers and determine the motive behind the killing. (PNA) RMA/VLOrquiola
