MANILA, Nov. 22 — Former First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo is now free to leave the country as a result of the Department of Justice (DOJ) order removing him from the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) watch list order (WLO).

Atty. Maria Antonette Bucasas-Mangrobang, BI spokesperson, said Immigration officers in all the seaports and airports have been instructed to clear Arroyo’s departure should he decide to go abroad.

“He (Arroyo) can now leave anytime as there is no more legal impediment to his travel abroad,” said Mangrobang.

Seven other individuals were also removed from the watch list and can depart anytime they wish unless they have any WLO/hold departure order issued against them, according to Mangrobang.

They are former Justice Secretary Alberto Agra, Bong Serrano, Andrei Von Tagum, former Presidential Political Adviser Gabby Claudio, Romy Dayday, Jeremy Javier, and a certain Butch.

Mangrobang said that upon receipt of the DOJ’s directive, BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. immediately issued the order deleting the name of Arroyo from the Immigration watch list.

Copies of the lifting order have been furnished to BI personnel stationed in all airports and subports nationwide. (PNA) scs/Benjie Lim Vergara/utb
