MANILA, Nov. 14 -– The Philippine National Police (PNP) has assured a tight security for the brief visit to the Philippines of United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday.

Director General Nicanor Bartolome, PNP chief, said on Monday they have assigned police escorts for Clinton’s motorcade and anti-riot policemen near her billeting area in Manila.

Bartolome said Clinton will be making a stopover in Manila en route to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Indonesia after attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in Honolulu, Hawaii during the weekend.

Clinton is scheduled to meet with President Benigno S. Aquino III on a host of bilateral and multilateral issues.

Her visit coincides with the anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) between the Philippines and the United States. (PNA) DCT/scs/JCA
