Cop shot dead in Lemery, Batangas

BATANGAS CITY, Nov. 13 – A policeman was shot dead by two unidentified armed men at an auto repair shop in Lemery, Batangas Saturday morning, police said.

In a report to Senior Superintendent Rosauro V. Acio, Batangas Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial director, Chief Inspector Rey Ochavo, Lemery Police chief, identified the fatality as PO3 Noel Villabos, 41, of the Batangas Provincial PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Ochavo said Villabos was taken to the Our Lady of Caysasay Hospital due to bullet wounds in different parts of the body, but he died while undergoing treatment.

He said the shooting incident happened at about 11:20 a. m. in Barangay Lucky, Lemery.

Ochavo said that Villabos, who was in civilian clothes, was having the engine oil of his car changed when he was shot by two men armed with caliber .45 pistols.

Witnesses said the assailants casually walked away from the crime scene after the shooting, heading towards the direction of Barangay Maguihan.

Police have yet to identify the assailants and the motive behind the killing, Ochavo said. (PNA)
