CEBU CITY, Nov. 9 – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 is asking consumers not to buy Christmas lights manufactured in 2008, saying this are already considered “expired.”

”Christmas lights manufactured in 2008 should no longer be found in the market shelves. Retailers should no longer sell these,” DTI 7 Director Asteria Caberte said.

”If this can be compared to food, Christmas lights produced in 2008 are already expired,” she said.

Caberte said DTI already started monitoring and inspecting Christmas lights sold in the market.

She said that the department is doubling its monitoring, especially with the approach of the Christmas holiday season.

Caberte also warned the public against fake and hazardous Christmas lights being sold in the market. DTI 7 reminded retailers to make sure the Christmas lights they sell have gone through proper inspection.

She said Christmas lights must have the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) and the Philippine Standard (PS) seals. (PNA) LAP/EB/bh
