MANILA, Oct. 28 – The Government of the Philippines Peace Panel (GPH)and the secessionist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) are reviewing their ceasefire agreement, an official of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Friday.

“The GPH and MILF are reviewing the guidelines of the previous agreement on this. If ever there is a need to amend it, they are going to sit down and discuss it," AFP Peace Process chief Col. Dickson Hermoso told reporters in a press briefing.

Hermoso said the review of the 2001 general agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities was a “bilateral" move on the part of the negotiators.

He also said the military supports the review of the pact, which is being supervised by the multi-national International Monitoring Team and local monitoring teams.

Last week, 19 Army soldiers were killed after a six-hour firefight with armed men led by fugitive Dan Laksaw Asnawi in Al-Barka, Basilan. (PNA) RMA/JCA
