MANILA, Oct. 21 – A 55-year-old Frenchman, who is expecting his Filipino girlfriend to fetch him at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 1, went berserk after the woman failed to show up, airport authorities said Friday.

Authorities said, Albert Georges Dominique Fremond, a passenger of Saudia Airlines flight SV-864, who arrived at Thursday afternoon from Paris via Saudi Arabia, had asked the airport guards where he could buy a mobile phone unit so he could be able to call her girlfriend “Michelle.”

It was learned from the guards that Fremond had made withdrawal of P30,000 to an ATM machine at the arrival lobby, which witnesses said, he then separated the P10,000 and later put it in his pocket.

The guards said they had seen Fremond made a call to Michelle informing her that he was already at the airport, and had just waiting for the Filipina to fetch him there.

After several frustrating hours of waiting, and to his dismay that the Filipino girlfriend did not show up until at night, the Frenchman became rowdy and went berserk until he torn into pieces the P10,000, part of the money he withdrew from the ATM machine.

Fremond also smashed his Nikon still camera and even threw his laptop to the floor.

Airport authorities tried to pacify the man and later brought him to the ramp medical clinic where attending doctors sedated him.

The Frenchman was still lying at the MIAA ramp clinic, which the doctors said they are waiting for the French embassy people to come for him. (PNA) RMA/Benjie Lim Vergara/utb
