43,374 to take police exams- Napolcom

MANILA, Oct. 20 — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) on Thursday said that 43, 374 examinees will take the Philippine National Police (PNP) Entrance and Promotional Examinations on Oct. 23.

According to Napolcom Vice-Chairman and executive officer Eduardo U. Escueta a total of 21,927 will take the PNP entrance examination and 21,447 for the promotional examination in designated testing centers nationwide.

Escueta said that this Sunday’s examinations would cover the qualifying examinations for Police Officer I and the promotional examinations for Police Officer 2 and 3; for Senior Police Officer 1 to Senior Police Officer 4 ; Police Inspector to Senior Inspector; and Chief Inspector to Plice Superintendent.

“The coverage for the PNP entrance examination consists of general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning; while the PNP promotional examinations includes general information, police administration and operations, and values and ethical standards,” Escueta said.

The Promotional Examinations are open exclusively to all qualified uniformed members of the PNP who meet the minimum qualification standards for examination in terms of rank and eligibility.

Escueta emphasized that “those who pass the PNP Entrance Examination are conferred by the Napolcom the PNP Entrance eligibility which is appropriate for appointment to the rank of PO1. Also, those who pass the promotional examinations shall be conferred eligibilities appropriate for promotion to the ranks corresponding to the examination’s Eligibility Rank Coverage (ERC).”

The vice chairman said he expected a better batch of police officers to come out of the exams.

“They will be less prone to corruption and become more caring in their role of public assistance and community relations. That’s what we’re aiming for, to improve community relations," Escueta said.

Director Isidro D. Siriban, Napolcom-Personnel and Administrative Service chief, said that the examinees were scheduled to proceed to their respective testing centers in Makati City, San Fernando City, Tuguegarao City, Angeles City, Cabanatuan City, Zambales, Aurora, Calamba City, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, Legaspi City, Masbate City, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Tacloban City, Pagadian City, Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, Koronadal City, Sulu, Baguio City and Butuan City.

“The Commission requires all examinees to strictly observe a dress code in reporting to the examination centers. Applicants for the PNP Entrance examinations should wear plain white T-shirt/polo shirt, dark pants and shoes while those who will take the promotional examinations are required to wear GOA Type B,” Siriban said.

Siriban also reminded the examinees to bring their notice of admission, pencil no. 2, black ball pen and any valid identification card with picture. They are also prohibited to bring their cellular phones, pagers or any two-way radio set, calculators, review materials, explosives, or deadly weapons.

“Firearms should be deposited outside the examination area,” Siriban said.

Siriban also underscored that “anyone who commits any form of examination irregularity, such as cheating, impersonation, perjury, or violation of examination rules, etc., shall be dealt with administratively and/or criminally. In addition, his/her examination results and eligibility shall be invalidated.” (PNA)RMA/CLTC
