Australian Foreign Minister to visit Phl on Oct. 20-21

MANILA, Oct. 19 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Wednesday Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd will visit the Philippines on October 20 and 21.

It will be Foreign Minister Rudd’s first official visit to the Philippines since he was sworn into office on September 14, 2010.

During his visit, he will have a meeting with Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario, where the two officials are expected to discuss advancement of political and economic ties, as well as cooperation on defense, development and climate change.

The two officials will also talk about key developments on the upcoming East Asia Summit (EAS) in November, significant regional and global developments and other issues of mutual interest.

Rudd will also call on President Benigno S. Aquino III during his visit.

The visit is one of the highlights of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Australia, which is being commemorated this year.(PNA)
