Weather update: Tropical storm ‘Nonoy’ enters PAR –PAGASA

MANILA, Sept. 8 — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday tropical storm "Nonoy" (international code name: "Kulap") has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is located east-northeast of Northern Luzon.

According to PAGASA, as of 10 a.m. Thursday, TS "Nonoy" was estimated at 1,170 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes or at coordinates: 24.8°N, 133.9°E.

Weathermen said the storm, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, is forecast to move northwest at 15 kph.

The weather agency said that by Friday morning, it is forecast to be at 1,190 km. northeast of Basco, Batanes.

PAGASA has not raised any public storm warning signals as TS "Nonoy" is too far to affect any part of the country. (PNA) scs/FFC/magi
