MANILA, July 8 – Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)'s Intellectual Property Division (IPRD) confiscated P4 million worth of counterfeit "North Face" shirts in five separate raids in clothing outlets in Manila and Paranaque this week.

The NBI conducted the operation after intellectual property representatives of the clothing brand filed a complaint at the IPRD.

IPRD investigations showed that individuals named C.C Quinto, Charmel Cabilez Quinto, Helen Sy, and Jonathan Chow are engaged in the illegal distribution of "North Face" products using their stalls and outlets located in Binondo, Manila, and Paranaque.

With this, the NBI immediately got a search and seizure warrant from Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 21 Executive Judge Amor A. Reyes to conduct the operation.

Raided were the sales outlet and three stockrooms located at Stalls 2A12 & 2A14, Second Floor, and Unit 3D-7, Third Floor, Juan Luna Plaza Shopping Mall, Juan Luna Street, Binondo; and at Units 2 & 3, Ed & Joe’s Commercial Arcade, No. 153 Quirino Avenue, Tambo, Paranaque City.

Seized were 2,162 counterfeit "North Face" shirts valued at P4 million.

Charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act No. 8293 are being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments. (PNA) scs/FFC/PFN
