Revillame’s lawyer assails CHR hearing on child abuse incident

MANILA, April 13 — A lawyer for television host Willie Revillame on Wednesday assailed the hearing being conducted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on the controversial incident showing a six-year old performing like a “macho” dancer on his TV5 show saying it evoked of “patent bias and partiality.”

At a press conference in Makati City, lawyer Leonard De Vera said his client has been deprived of due process since the controversy over the March 12 episode of the show “Willing Willie” aired on TV5 network erupted with a complaint filed at the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

“The CHR has, right from the start, condemned Revillame for child abuse and the ongoing hearing would most likely confirm or validate this stand. Thus, the hearing is a sham as it deprives Revillame of due process of law and the presumption of innocence in a case which is essentially criminal in nature,” De Vera said.

Earlier, CHR Chairperson Loretta Ann Rosales said “the CHR strongly condemns the “Willing Willie” episode on March 12, 2011 wherein a 6-year old boy named Jan-Jan Suan performed a “macho-dancing routine,” adding that “This is an exploitation of the child’s innocence and demeans his inherent dignity for entertainment’s sake.” (PNA)

mtrcb i know, your body have your own mind to decide the case about willie program.

pls be fair and rational. in the spirit of fair judging.pls apply the different steps of considerations. like if it is first offense just give them a warning, 2nd offense, suspension and 3rd offense. termination.I know what aggavate the case is the child dancing while in tears. but consider their reason that he really love to dance n that nobody forced him to do that.he only cried when he saw like a giant man. as a matter of fact that dance was his winning piece at mall of asia. as far as i know, it is an sop of the program to give money after doing their talent. i am sure willy has no intention whatsoever to abuse as a matter of fact he really loves kids esp. the special one.

In addition, pls consider too not the opinion of of others who watch the scene only presented in you tube not as a whole. I regret it so much that they make it a big big issue, when everyday thousands of abused children are loitering around begging for
food and little alms, shirtless and shabby and exposed to lots of danger. Pls disregard the opinion of some who are so judgmental and self rightious persons.
I am not a fan of willie but as a good christian i fully sympathize with him with what is happening now. most self opinionated people are putting him down .hitting him below the belt. as far as i have seen Willie might have lots of weaknesses and faults
but ,we must also acknowledge that he is really blessed cause so many are persecuting him. and God loves those are being mistreated. Williy has a good heart

nsider the good that willie s program is doing to lots of people . giving jobs to his staff and workers, giving hope and little happiness to and comfort to those who
are old and embattled cause of their poverty.

Pls let us all pray and ask for enlightenment so as to give your judgement
fairly and with Gods grace not basing on the opinion of the few who are self opinionated but for the benefits of so many whose bread and butter defend on the existense of that program. Let kindness and little tolerance and love guide us in this case. iam a grandmother of 3 here in hawaii, and i dont find that dance of jan offensive. i would like to tell you that i really uphold moral values..
