PNP Aviation Unit backs Magna Carta of Women

MANILA, April 4 -– A unit of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) said Monday it has expressed support to the Magna Carta of Women by holding a seminar in Pasay City.

Sr. Supt. Danilo Maraya Abadiano, chief of the PNP-National Capital Region Philippine Civil Aviation Security (NCR-PCAS), said in observance of the celebration of the Women’s Month last March, they displayed a streamer for the whole month with theme: “Magna Carta of Women: In Support of the Millennium Development Goals” to promote gender equality and empower women.

Maraya said invited resource speaker was lawyer Jocelyn C. Sarmiento, Associate Solicitor General from Department of Justice (DoJ).

The seminar was attended by 26 personnel. Highlight was practical exercises wherein the participants were grouped and given time for brain-storming then presented words related to gender based violence and acts that may qualify on the said cases.

A dramatization was conducted on roles of police officers in responding to these Republic Act (RA) 9710 cases. (PNA) DCT/LOR/JCA
