MANILA, March 3 – President Benigno S. Aquino III has appointed four new associate justices of the Court of Appeals (CA).

In a one-page Appointments Transmittal made by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. to Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, there are four names submitted out of the seven vacancies in the appellate court.

Two of the new justices in the CA are former Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Abraham Borreta, who convicted Imam Boratong in the Pasig "shabu tiangge" case, and Caloocan City RTC Judge Victoria Paredes.

Paredes was a Judicial Excellence Awardee and a former Executive Judge of Caloocan City RTC. She was also an executive official of the Philippine Judges Association (PJA).

The two other newly-appointed appellate court justices are former Cebu City RTC Judges Gabriel Ingles and Pamela Ann Abella-Maxino.

The four new CA justices were appointed by the President after their names were included in the shortlist submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council. (PNA)
