ILOILO CITY, Feb. 24 – The National Food Authority (NFA) has P21.5 million new budget for rice procurement in Iloilo and Guimaras provinces.

NFA Iloilo asst. manager Miguel Aguirre said that the new budget will be used to procure the remaining harvest for the second cropping in 2010.

The NFA offered basic support price of P17 for the clean and dry rice.

Aguirre said that farmers wanting to sell their harvest should coordinate with the NFA in its different buying stations in the municipalities of Pototan and Dumangas in Iloilo province and in Jaro, Iloilo City.

The NFA official said they are intensifying the rice procurement because Iloilo and Guimaras are not included in this year rice importation program. (PNA)
