DAVAO CITY, Feb. 17 — The Tagpopongan Roll On-Roll Off (Ro-Ro) Port worth P37 million in the Island Garden City of Samal is now 50 percent complete, according to the Philippine Ports Authority Port District Office (PPA-PDO) Southern Mindanao Engineering Services Division (ESD).

ESD manager Asterio Gallardo Jr. said the project, built by MRB Construction and Supply (MRBCS), with a 430-day work schedule, will be completed by August, this year.

Gallardo said the project is on stream after the early completion was stalled last year due to election ban.

He also said the Pantukan Ro-Ro Port in Compostela Valley across Tagpopongan, is being hobbled by road-right-of-way woes now being resolved by the local government, causing delay.

The two ports are expected to speed up transport of goods, people and services between the two municipalities faster. These ports form part of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) project of the national government, he added. (PNA)
