MANILA, Jan. 30 — The number of fatalities in Navotas' San Roque district fire incident has climbed to nine.

Navotas City Social Welfare Office chief Pat Agcaoili identified five of the fatalities as Dritz and Carlos Blancaflor; and William, James, and Jennifer Agarin.

Another unidentified three-year old child has been reported missing and is feared dead, Gastilo said.

The fire, which started at 11 p.m. on Saturday engulfed a densely populated area in the San Roque district of Navotas City, gutting down some 100 houses and displacing scores of families who were evacuated to a nearby San Roque National High School, a basketball complex, and a chapel, Agcaoili said.

Arson investigators initially placed the damage to property at P5 million.
