U.S. embassy closed on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

MANILA, Jan. 14 — The U.S. embassy and its affiliated offices in Manila will be closed to the public this Monday, January 17, a federal holiday marking the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Regular services resume the following day, Tuesday, the embassy announced.

The third Monday of January each year is observed as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in honor of the chief spokesman for non-violent activism in the U.S. civil rights movement. (PNA)
