KIEV, Jan. 6 — Ukraine has decided to provide Pakistan with humanitarian aid worth over 640,000 U.S. dollars, Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha said here on Wednesday.

"We have decided to allocate more than 5 million hryvnia (over 640,000 U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to Pakistan," Baloha told reporters after a government meeting.

Baloha said that the assistance would be provided to help Pakistan combat the effects of the floods that hit the country last summer.

On Dec. 9, 2010, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed a decree on providing humanitarian aid to flood-stricken Pakistan. (PNA/Xinhua)
