ILOILO CITY, Jan. 4 – Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her family slipped quietly in this city on Monday, to grace the closing ceremony of the Diocesan Process, a vital step toward the eventual canonization of Mother Rosario Arroyo de la Visitacion, founder of the Dominican Sisters in the Philippines.

Mother Rosario Arroyo was the elder sister of pre-war Iloilo Senator Jose Ma. Arroyo, the grandfather of former First Gentleman Miguel “Mike” Arroyo.

Gloria Arroyo and her family came to personally witness the sealing of documents containing indispensable evidence that indeed, Mother Rosario Arroyo is ripe for sainthood. The said documents are to be sent to the Vatican for finality proceedings.

After thanking everyone present during the rites, the former president, now a representative of the 2nd district of Pampanga in the Lower House of Congress, left hurriedly together with her family. (PNA)
