DAVAO CITY, Jan. 4 – Applications for renewal of the business permits are expected to reach more than 30,000 this year in the light of the rising number of establishments in this city.

Jhopee Agustin-Avacena, chief of the Office of the City Mayor's Business Bureau, said retail and merchandise and real estate have continued to be strong industries here.

Avancena said his office recorded last year around 29,000 registered business establishments, of which around 5,000 are new applicants.

"The continuously increasing number of legal establishments in the city is a good sign. The city has continued to grow over the years on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)," he said.

Avancena said aside from the City's Business Bureau Office, a one-stop shop has been set at the SM Davao Event Center to process the renewal of business permits.

"This is the first time we opened an extension. All the offices that they need to have their permits approved have satellite offices here at SM Davao," he said.

Business permit renewal period started January 3 and will end on January 20. (PNA)
