Lay group to produce a comic book against RH Bill

MANILA, Jan. 2 — A lay group will be coming up with a comic book that would encourage readers to oppose the Reproductive Health (RH) bill.

According to Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Media Office Director, the Knights of Columbus is planning to launch a "komiks" discussing the controversial bill.

The komiks on family and life said that it is expected to be released during the first quarter of 2011.

Quitorio said that they would give copies to the lawmakers who are pushing for the passage of the controversial bill, since it will be circulated nationwide.

The CBCP official is hoping that supporters of the bill will be enlightened when they would be able to hold and read the book.

“Once the education process starts, even the bystanders, so to speak, will be educated (on the bill),” said Quitorio.

He added that the Church is bent on educating the faithful using a deep conscientization process which he said is more effective than just creating noise.

“The conscientization process can only be done if you hold the truth. If you hold the truth, even if it’s slow, for as long as it’s deep, it will be more effective rather than if it’s short and loud like a firecracker, it will not last,” Quitorio said.

The CBCP has repeatedly expressed opposition against the passage of the RH bill since it is against the Church teachings as it promotes artificial contraception. (PNA)
