FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga, Dec. 23 -– At least 968 members of the Aeta communities here have benefited with the gift-giving activity spearheaded by the provincial government of Pampanga.

Barely two days before Christmas, Governor Lilia Pineda personally visited the villages of Macawat, Nabuklod and San Roman in this town to distribute gifts and groceries to the indigenous people.

"We love our constituents here, including our Aeta brothers. That’s why during this time, they are included to those we have been giving time and attention," Pineda said.

Aware with the condition of the Aeta communities, the governor said she “wants to make their Christmas meaningful by showing deep concern with them and by providing foods for Noche Buena.”

"I want your Christmas to be merrier. We gave you gifts and groceries so that you have something to share together during Christmas," she said.

Barangay Nabuklod village chief Roger Apang, meanwhile, thanked the governor for the meaningful activity.

A total of 200 families in Barangay Nabuklod received gifts and groceries while 398 families in Mawacat and 370 in San Roman.

In a related development, Pineda disclosed that the proposed agro-eco tourism park in this town will be pursued by the provincial government early next year to provide employment opportunities to the Aetas.

She said appropriate funds will be allocated to ensure the success of the proposed project. (PNA)
