ICPO to fully activate security task forces for the 2011 Dinagyang Festival effective Jan.1

ILOILO CITY, Dec 17 -– The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is now in full swing in its security preparation for the 2011 Dinagyang Festival and is slated to full activate all its sub task forces first day of January.

C/Inspt. Uldarico Garbanzos, ICPO operation officer explained that effective said date they will be deploying personnel in all activity areas of the Dinagyang until Jan. 24, 2011.

“We will maximize our deployment,” he announced.

Some 100 personnel from the Public Safety Battalion from Negros Occidental, 50 from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and 50 covert personnel for VIPs and five patrol vehicles will be augmenting the strength of the ICPO.

Also they will be utilizing the K-9 dogs of the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Air Force (PAF) to panel the activity areas.

Further cadets from various universities and colleges who are enrolled in their Reserved Officer Training Course (ROTC) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) will also be tapped for the crowd control.

Radio communication groups, barangay peace keeping action teams (BPATS) and barangay tanods will also form part of the intelligence monitoring while rescue groups will also be on alert in anticipation of any man made or natural disasters, he added.

There will also be ‘Operation Sita’ and the conduct of checkpoints in all choke areas in the city while during the highlights slated Jan. 21 to 23, 2011 there will be random checking of bags to pre-empt any possible terroristic activity in the city.

The final security coordinating meeting will be held week one of January, he said, to determine the strength of those who will be part of the security preparation. (PNA) LOR/ajp/PGLena/vlo
