KALIBO, Aklan, Dec. 11 – A total of 221 passengers of M/V Love 1 were declared safe after the vessel ran aground at the Batan Sea Saturday morning. They were immediately transferred to other vessel to reach their main destination in Dumaguit Port in New Washington, Aklan.

Lt. Commander Terrence Alsosa of the Philippine Coast Guard Dumaguit said that aside from the passengers, the M/V Love 1 also carried with it eight roll-on-roll off buses.

"Based on our initial investigation, ship captain Wilfredo Arosa miscalculated the port as it is low tide the reason it experienced technical problems," said Alsosa.

The PCG declared all the passengers who came from Metro Manila safe around 6:00 a.m. of Saturday. All of them immediately went home as soon as they reached the port.

Alsosa said they continued to investigate the incident. (PNA) RMA/ajp/JNAguirre/vlo
