MANILA, Dec. 7 — Vice President Jejomar C. Binay is neck-to-neck with President Benigno Aquino III as the most popular officials of the current government, getting 78 percent against Aquino’s 79 percent in a recent survey of pollster Pulse Asia.

Binay’s media chief Joey Salgado said while the vote of confidence in his performance of jobs is appreciated by the Vice President, he “knows there is still much work to be done, particularly in meeting the housing needs of our people and and further strengthening government's capacity to protect the welfare of our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).”

The Vice President holds the concurrent positions of Presidential Adviser on OFW Concerns and Chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

”The Vice President gratefully acknowledges the people's support. He sees it as an expression of optimism and confidence that life will be better in the years to come,” Salgado told the press.

The Pulse Asia poll ranked Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile the third most popular with 61 percent, followed by House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. with 45 percent. Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona received 35 percent approval rating.

Pulse Asia conducted the survey among 1,200 respondents nationwide from October 20 to 29. (PNA)
