ILOILO CITY, Nov. 18 – The series of public consultations on the first draft of the Medium Term Development Plan (MDRDP) of Western Visayas kicked off Thursday, according to National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) regional director Ro-Ann Bacal.

“It’s a result of a number of consultations from various sectors that covers 11 chapters. We’re hoping that with this consultation we will be able to generate more comments, suggestions and recommendations for its enhancement,” Bacal explained.

Another consultation will also be conducted in Roxas City, Aklan and Bacolod City.

Thereafter, the result will be presented to the sector committees of the Regional Development Council (RDC) before it will be scheduled for adoption by the RDC proper, she added.

Meantime, Bacal emphasized that there is a specific chapter in the plan that talks about renewable energy and power to respond to the pressing concern of the region. (PNA)
