MANILA, Nov. 02 — A surgical team of the renowned Interplast-Australia and New Zealand (Interplast) brings its mission to Baguio City, assisting the Benguet General Hospital in delivering specialist consultation clinics and performing plastic and reconstructive surgery services until November 12.

The team consists of surgeons Dr. Peter Haertsch and James Leong, Anaesthetists Dr Alan Wallace and Dr Lindsay McBride, and Nurses Michelle Skrivanic and Sally Howard.

Consultations begin on Tuesday, November 2, from 9:00 am at the Benguet General Hospital, Baguio City. Patients selected for surgery will be treated from November 3 to 10.

Persons with conditions including cleft lips and palates, scarring from burns, hand surgery and tumors as well as other conditions that would benefit from treatment by the Interplast team, are urged to contact Hoover Agyao (Save Our Street Children Foundation) or the Benguet General Hospital.

The clinic is by appointment only and patients must be screened by the surgical team or private general practitioners.

According to the Australian embassy, Interplast is grateful to the Cabrini Foundation for providing generous funding to enable this surgical visit. Without such support, this visit could not proceed, it said.

Patients with common skin diseases or cosmetic conditions will be excluded from this consultation.

Interplast has delivered 28 programs to the Philippines since 1984. As a result, over 1,800 patients have had consultations and over 1,500 patients have received life changing surgery.
