MANILA, Oct. 31 – President Benigno Simeon Aquino III is back home from his official trip to Vietnam, saying he is happy to have had another successful state visit abroad.

President Aquino and some of the delegates arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at around 7 p.m. He was welcomed by Cabinet members and Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Aquino said his visit bore fruit when the Philippines gained foreign assistance from neighboring countries.

In his arrival speech, he said: “Nakauwi na po tayo sa isang matagumpay na biyahe sa Vietnam kung saan ay nakipagpulong tayo sa mga pinuno ng ating mga karatig bansa. (We have returned from a successful trip in Vietnam where we conferred with leaders of our neighboring countries. I am glad to be home.)”

During the state visit, President Aquino said he witnessed the signing of agreements between the Philippines and Vietnam on academic and defense cooperation, oil spill preparedness and response, and search-and-rescue capabilities.

He said Japan also extended a P21.4-billion loan for road upgrading.

He also lauded Vietnam and the Vietnamese people for their hardwork and determination, which helped them advance in agriculture and infrastructure. (PNA)
