MANILA, Oct. 12 — Seven foreign nationals are now in their homeland after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported them recently for using fake travel documents in an attempt to leave the Philippines. <P>Deported on the strength of a summary deportation order issued by the BI board of commissioners headed by acting chief Ronaldo Ledesma were Asian-born nationals. <P>The board also banned them from re-entering the Philippines and placed them in the immigration blacklist. <P>The foreigners entered the country as tourists but overstayed in the country, according to Ledesma. The aliens were deported last Sept. 22 via a China Southern Airlines. <P>The foreigners were intercepted at the NAIA 3 departure area last September 4 as they were about to board a Cebu Pacific flight to China. <P>They were offloaded after immigration officers found that their passports bore fake immigration departure stamps. <P>Lawyer Arvin Santos, BI airport operations division chief, said the passengers later admitted upon questioning that they had been overstaying in the country.
