LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Sept. 28 — Two men were the first persons in Pangasinan to have been arrested by the police for violation of the gunban imposed by the Commission on Elections in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25.

Arrested at 1:00 a.m. of September 25, an hour after the gunban took effect, was Domonic Bartolome, 40, who was arrested in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Binalonan, for poking a hand gun on Romeo Matias, 38; and Joemar Alvares, 29, both of the same place.

All three were on their way home from the wake of one Jose Sagun when Bartolome drew a Cal. 38 revolver with six live ammunition and poked it on the two.

Both helped one another in grabbing the firearm from the suspect, whom they subsequently turned over to the police.

Bartolome was first temporarily detained at the Binalonan Police Station and is now facing a case for Violation of Republic Act 8294 and of Comelec Resolution No. 909 (gunban).

The police also reported the arrest of one Jimson Del Campo, 35, at Barangay Calaoagan, Laoac who poked a home-made shotgun at 3:30 p.m. of September 26 on one Darwin Hupano and Froilan Hupano while the former was under the influence of liquor.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Laoac Police Station and charged with Violation of RA 824 and violation of the gunban. (PNA)
