MANILA, Sept. 16 – Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista ordered the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday to intensify its crackdown on all forms of gambling, including "jueteng" and video "karera" now reportedly thriving in some of the city’s 142 barangays.

In his directive to city Police Chief Supt. Benjardi Mantele during a regular executive staff meeting, Bautista said that the QCPD should intensify its anti-gambling campaign and cleanse the city of these illegal joints.

The mayor stressed that a “honest-to-goodness” campaign against gambling should be implemented and enforced to serve as warning to "those unscrupulous individuals, whether men in uniform or civilians," that the city government is serious in its effort to make Quezon City a “gambling-free city.” (PNA) (PNA) scs/JCA
