MANILA, Sept. 16 – Caloocan Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri has directed the Division Office (DO) of the Department of Education (DepEd) to conduct massive cleanup campaigns at schools in order to purge the learning institutions of dengue-causing mosquitoes.

Echiverri, in giving out the order, was acting on the information reaching his office that most victims of dengue in the country caught the disease while they were attending school.

In line with this, the mayor also tasked the Reformed Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (RDPSTM) to help out in the cleaning efforts at schools around Caloocan.

According to Echiverri, every nook and cranny of local schools must be kept spic and span so as not to risk the pupils from contracting the deadly disease.

Meanwhile, the city health office is carrying on with its information dissemination program, which is aimed at teaching residents about the symptoms of dengue and more importantly, how to avoid it.

Even local barangay officials have been very active in giving out the necessary information to their constituents, which includes the precautions against dengue.

Echiverri further advised residents not to think twice in going to health centers or the nearest hospital whenever a member of the family manifests symptoms of the deadly disease.(PNA)
