(Metro News) 3 dead, 2 hurt in QC fire

MANILA, Sept. 16 – A father and his two sons died while two other persons were injured in a 90-minute fire that occurred in San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City Wednesday night, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Text Fire Philippines (TFP) reported.

BFP and TFP officials said the fire, which reached second alarm, began at 11:30 p.m. and destroyed a warehouse and two houses along Del Monte Avenue in Barangay Paltok, San Fransisco del Monte. The blaze was placed under control at 1 a.m.

Arson investigators identified the fatalities as Leo Tatad, 36, and his sons Jeri and Darryl, 8. Injured were Hilda Tatad and Alvin Quizon, who were taken by BFP paramedic team to a local hospital.

BFP and TFP believed a short circuit or an unattended lighted candle could have caused the fire.

Witnesses told investigators there was a brownout in the area before the fire broke out. (PNA) scs/JCA
