(Metro News) PUP employee stabbed, wounded in robbery

MANILA, Sept. 9 –A Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) employee was stabbed and wounded by three armed robbers during a robbery in Sta. Mesa, Wednesday night.

Wounded was Robertito Roque, 46, of 4856-C Interior 16 Rosal St., Old Sta. Mesa, Manila. He is now under observation at the Lourdes Hospital after sustaining two stab wounds on his neck.

Police arrested Erick Tupaz, 19, of Block 34, Lot 54 Acacia Lane, Mandaluyong City in a follow-up operation.

Supt. Felipe Cazo, commander of the MPD Sta. Mesa Station 8, said the incident occurred at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in front of Newton Plaza on Old Sta. Mesa, in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Luis Erandio, a security guard of Newton Plaza, told police that he saw the three men armed with knives suddenly approached the victim.

The robbers announced the robbery and attacked the victim.

The guard responded in the area prompting the three men to flee toward different directions.

Tupaz was positively identified by the security guard as one of the attackers.

Police are now looking for Tupaz’ cohorts. (PNA) RMA/JES
