(Metro News) Worker dies after falling from payloader in Manila

MANILA, Sept. 8 — A worker died due to severe head and body injuries after accidentally falling from a payloader in Tondo, Manila early Wednesday morning.

Police identified the victim as Nonoy Almonia, 25, a payloader helper and resident of Tondo, Manila. He died instantly.

Investigators said the incident occurred at 12:10 a.m. inside the Cargo Shipyard Company in Baseco Compound, Tondo.

Danilo Pancho, company security guard, said he saw the victim climbing to the payloader reportedly driven by Michael Lising.

The guard said he saw Almonia lose his balance and suddenly fell on the pavement.

The driver of the payloader said he was not aware of the accident until he was informed later by the security guard.

Police are determining if there was foul play in the helper’s death. (PNA) scs/JES
