MANILA, Sept. 8 — Senator Pia Cayetano on Wednesday assured the country’s six million senior citizens that all benefits due them under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 (ESCA) are intact amid reports that their supposed “VAT exemption” for electricity and water consumption will be “taken back” by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) through a new revenue regulation it issued on Monday.

MANILA, Sept. 8 — The Incident Investigation and Review Committee (IIRC) chaired by Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila De Lima on Wednesday afternoon conducted an ocular inspection of the Hong Thai Travel bus where the bodies of the eight Hong Kong tourists were recovered after an 11-hour hostage-taking pulled off by dismissed Manila police Sr. Insp. Rolando Mendoza in front of the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park, Manila last August 23.
