MANILA, Sept. 5 – President Benigno S. Aquino III has started preparing for his working visit to the United States this month, a Malacanang official said on Sunday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma said the President is studying some government policies and proposals that maybe be included in his discussion with other world leaders.

”The President and his team are preparing for the topics that will be discussed in the U.S. He is studying position papers, policy options and proposals for policy reforms,” Coloma said in a radio interview.

President Aquino will join other world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Sept. 20. This is the Chief Executive's first visit abroad since assuming the presidency last June 30.

Secretary Coloma also said the August 23 hostage-taking incident in Manila would not dampen President Aquino's visit to the U.S.

He noted that the President is ready to meet with Chinese leaders there. (PNA) scs/jmc
