MANILA, Sept. 1 -– Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo said on Wednesday he is hopeful that everything will settle down after the conclusion by the Department of Justice (DOJ) of its investigation on the August 23 hostage-taking incident in Manila.

At the same time, Robredo said he will not resign amid suggestions by some sectors for him to step down in the wake of the tragic hostage drama.

The DILG chief stressed he was not part of the crisis management group that led efforts to get dismissed police officer Senior Inspector Rodolfo Mendoza to free the Hong Kong tourists he held hostage inside a bus near the Quirino Grandstand in Manila's Rizal Park. (PNA) scs/JCA
