Two wanted ASG terrorists nabbed in Zamboanga City

MANILA, August 26 –- Two wanted Abu Sayyaf terrorists with a combined million peso bounty were captured by combined police elements during an operation in Zamboanga City on Wednesday.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Senior Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said Jhon Buhari Jamiri, who uses the aliases John, Jhon, Hasim and Jamil Hasim, and Adjik Halik, who uses the aliases Liks and Halik Harun, were collared in Villa Maragarita, Barangay San Roque at around 4 p.m.

Cruz said the duo was arrested by joint elements of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office (PPO) and Special Action Force (SAF) Seaborne by virtue of the warrants of arrest issued against them by Judge Leo Jay Principe of the Basilan Regional Trial Court Branch 1.

Jamiri carries a P600,000 reward for his neutralization, under the Department of National Defense-Department of Interior and Local Government (DND-DILG) list of wanted personalities, for strings of murder and frustrated murder charges.

On the other hand, Halik is reportedly the subject of P350,000 bounty.

Cruz said Jamiri and Halik were tagged as active members of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf group responsible in several high-profile kidnappings during the past years in southern Philippines. (PNA) V3/MM
