DAGUPAN CITY, Aug. 25 — A group of Japanese retirees is coming here shortly to conduct skills training for unemployed youth and adults in Dagupan.

This was disclosed by Mayor Benjamin Lim who said the skills training will be offered for free to any interested parties by the Nihon Skilled Volunteers Association of Japan.

Representatives of the group were already in Dagupan last week to sound off their project with Mayor Lim.

The skills training the group will conduct include welding, sewing, cooking Japanese food and others, said Akira Fotagoishi, Reizo Fukushima and Alberman Baraquiel, the group's corporate secretary.

Mayor Lim lauded the project, explaining that the idea of bringing skilled Japanese people here is for Dagupenos to be able to enhance and hone their knowledge on various skills so that they can earn a living and be more productive.

The same association previously conducted skills training for interested people in Pangasinan, particularly in the town of Sual.

As its counterpart, the city government will shoulder the board expenses of the Japanese trainors, including their traveling expenses from their billeting area to the training center. (PNA) scs/lvm/lvmicua/rma
