MANILA, Aug. 21 – The family of slain publicist Salvador "Bubby" Dacer expressed their joy over the cancellation of the passport of Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, one of the alleged masterminds in the 10-year-old murder and abduction case.

The family's sentiments were expressed by legal representative, Atty. Demetrio Custodio.

"(They) are very happy that the Department of Foreign Affairs have finally taken action and granted our request to cancel the passport of Sen. Lacson," Demetrio said.

He also said that the idea behind the cancellation of Lacson's passport was to restrict the movements of the former Philippine National Police chief, wherever the latter is now.

Demetrio also said that they were looking at the possibility of filling a complaint against Lacson at the Senate Ethics Committee.

Lacson is wanted for the murders of publicist Salvador Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.

The senator left the country on Jan. 5 before the Manila RTC resolved his pending motion for judicial determination of probable cause. (PNA) RMA/PFN
